A new era in education is unfolding—really quickly.
As three high school educators, we’ve spent the past two years immersed in conversations, experiments, and discoveries about Artificial Intelligence in the classroom. It has been quite a rapidly evolving journey, and one that is just getting started.
Throughout all of our work, two guiding principles have remained clear. First, AI should not replace critical thinking but instead amplify curiosity, creativity, and community. And second, if we can do these things, AI will revolutionize teaching and learning.
That’s why we started Mindful AI for Education.
This space is dedicated to exploring AI with intention—how it can empower students, educators, school leaders, and parents while preserving authenticity and enhancing human potential. AI can personalize learning, create efficiencies to make more time for meaningful conversations, and equip students with the skills they need to thrive in an ever-evolving world. Without intention, it can short-circuit critical thinking, cut away at effective communication, and result in ill-equipped siloed students rather than a flourishing community.
Why Mindful AI?
To integrate AI effectively into education (and just about anything), we must be mindful—mindful of how we use it, why we use it, awareness of who controls it, and who it serves. It’s easy to get caught up in either the seemingly magic results AI produces, or the fear and uncertainty of the unknown.
But it isn’t magic. It is a tool. And without thoughtful and intentional use of this tool, we risk losing sight of what truly matters. Our goal is to explore AI’s role in education through this lens, seeking a hopeful, balanced approach that enhances learning while addressing concerns about ethics, equity, and creativity.

Our Future Work: A Book on AI & Education
As part of our efforts, we are writing a book that explores AI’s possibilities in education. This book is rooted in our lived experience as educators navigating AI’s rapid emergence in schools. It outlines a thoughtful framework for AI integration, centered on foundational skills such as prompt writing, ideation, and use cases like brainstorming and feedback. The book will highlight student and teacher voices at every stage and include practical use cases, showing how AI can enrich learning in authentic, meaningful ways.
